Pick 6 bottles, get one free of our clearance selection of wines!

Many of you have taken advantage of our Clearance rack since we put it together a few weeks ago. By remodeling, we found quite a few loose bottles which were holding a spot on the floor. We put them together with discounts sometimes up to 25%.

This week-end, we decided to go a little bit further. Pick 6 bottles from that rack and you will pay only 5 - the least expensive one will be free. This offer is valid this week-end only, Friday through Monday.

Italian wines tomorrow night!

we hope you can join us tomorrow night, Friday May 27th, from 5pm to 7pm for our Weekly Free Tasting. This week, we will sample Italian wines.

We will start with a sparkling called Rotari made with 100% Chardonnay grape. This Talento sparkling is made in the Champenoise method and uses second fermentation in the bottle and is aged 28 months on lees producing a dry wine yet elegant and very fragrant.

We will then move on to a Chianti made by Banfi. Lively and fresh, it is very pleasant for everyday drinking.

After that, two wines from Petra. The first one is a lovely blend of Syrah, Merlot, and Malbec and we will finish with a more serious wine from this outstanding winery called Ebo. Rather full but well-balanced, this is a fine wine made from Cabernet, Sangiovese, and Merlot.

Join us and discover these beautiful Italian reds!

Petra Wines at Philippe's Wine Cellar!

A new producer for us here at Philippe's. Petra is located in Suvereto, on the Tuscan coast.

It's the dream of every wine lover who has allowed themselves to be seduced by the rolling vineyards, forests, and olive groves of Tuscany: to find a little corner to call your own and to join in the age-old tradition of coaxing luscious wines out of the soil. For Vittorio Moretti and his daughter, Francesca, who discovered this beautiful seaside estate while on vacation nearby, the dream came true. In 1997 the pair founded this small boutique winery in Maremma Toscana in Suvereto, where the hills of Val di Cornia rise toward the Colline Metallifere.

The soil of the steep slopes here (which form part of the Colline Metallifere, or "Metal-Yielding Hills") is particularly mineral-rich and ruddy colored, leading to strong-willed, complex wines. The vineyards' layout, which is a patchwork of different varieties (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Petit Verdot, Syrah and Cabernet Franc) seemingly strewn about randomly, is no coincidence. The arrangement is based on long and careful studies of the soil, wind, sun and climate conditions in each area of the estate.

The four high-end wines made here -- Ebo, Petra, Quercegobbe and Zingari -- are known for being expressive, aromatic wines with a fresh modern style. We hope you will be tempted to try this new and exciting producer and - why not - venture into their other wines.

2008 Petra Zingari

The 2008 Zingari is a blend of equal parts Sangiovese, Merlot, Syrah and Petit Verdot aged entirely in stainless steel. It is an absolutely fabulous entry-level red from Maremma. Smoke, underbrush, licorice and truffles add complexity to the generous, dark fruit. Medium in body yet wonderfully intense, the Zingari impresses for its sheer richness and density. There is enough freshness for the Zingari to drink well for a number of years. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2014.

Rated 90pts by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.

Reg Price: $12.99 - Vintage Service Price: $11.50

Join us tonight for a FREE Burgundy Tasting!

we hope you can all join us for a Free Tasting tonight! We will feature the Domaine Antonin Rodet from Burgundy.

With the help of Neal, we will taste through four different wines. We will first experience their regional Bourgogne appellation on two different vintages - 2007 and 2009 - and then move on to their Mercurey village appellation and finish with their Macon-Villages appellation.

A wonderful introduction to wines from this area where Chardonnay is used for whites and Pinot Noir for reds.

The tasting will start at 5pm until 7pm tonight, Friday May 20th.

Sipping Summer Wines Tonight!

we hope you can join us tonight at our Ambassador Caffery location and sample some wines with us.

Summer is upon us and we decided to choose some wines which will be perfect by the pool, with shellfish, at a picnic, or simply with light grilled meats.

First, we invite you to discover some wines from Austria produced by the wondeful Hopler Winery. Three wines will be available, their Gruner Veltliner - most widely grown grape in Austria, producing a crisp, slightly spicy wine - their Pinot Blanc as well as their Pinot Noir.

We will also feature The Cotes du Crow Cuvée from Morgan. We are sure most of you are familiar with this winery but may never have tasted their Rhône-style blend.

We will finish with a Côtes du Ventoux from Chateau Unang which will surprise you with its raw currant flavors.

We hope you can join us and enjoy this wonderful line-up for tonight's event.

Thank you.

Dessert and Wine Pairing and First Friday Tasting in May

Good morning,

a busy and exciting week for us here at Philippe's. Tonight, we are hosting a Dessert and Wine Pairing Event starting at 5pm. Three homemade desserts will be served with two different wines each time. Join us and discover the magic of pairing the right wine with the right dessert! The crème brûlée and dark chocolate truffles are prepared by Mrs. Sylvie Simon and the cheesecake by Mrs. Betty Landry - Christophe's mother-in-law. Call to RSVP if you have not done so yet.

Tomorrow is the first Friday of the month of May. A special FREE sampling will take place from 5pm to 7pm with a selection of four beers - two from Germany and two from Belgium, a Tequila sampling, and a wine tasting involving four wines. Two from France - a white Cotes du Luberon and a red Cotes du Ventoux - and two from Spain - one Garnacha and one Tempranillo from Rioja.

We hope you can join us for both events. The Wine and Dessert Pairing is $30 per person.

Thank you.
